This challenge begins with two provided images. Our objective is twofold: first, to identify the postal code visible on the envelope, and second, to determine the full name of the individual mentioned in the accompanying note, along with their age.

This is very interesting, the letter appears damaged, as does the newspaper, but we’re still able to partially make out some important details.

Starting with the letter: we can clearly see “Edouard G”, which correlates with the note we already have, so we can reasonably assume this is a valid lead.

The second inscription, “SNSM”, is fairly legible as well.

SNSM stands for “Sauveteur en Mer” in France. We start noticing a pattern of related elements: the sea, the “sauveteur en mer” reference, and the phrase “fier de te voir sur l’eau”.

With a quick search, we find the postal code for Penmarch, in Finistère: 29760 and the full story of the note.

At the end, we find a list of rescue medals. Based on the note, we know we’re looking for the youngest (“le benjamin”), and based on the envelope, we know the surname starts with “G”. So we’re specifically looking for the youngest recipient of a medal who was part of the SNSM.
